At Friiway, we believe a little rain shouldn't stop the joy of travel by e-bike. Whether it's a drizzle, a downpour or a particularly foggy morning, our guide will help you stay safe - and dry - while soaking in the bliss of rain-kissed streets.
1. Adjust Your Riding Style
Ride slower than usual, avoid sharp turns and sudden stops. Gentle and gradual moves are key.
2. Avoid Slippery Surfaces
Painted lines, metal surfaces like sewer covers, light rail lines and leaves become extra slippery when wet.
3. Dress for Success
The goal is to keep dry and combine with reflective materials when possible. For example, jackets & gloves from Provis as well as pant shells & shoe covers from Showers Pass.
Stop by your local retailer, like The New Wheel, for gear & water proof bags.
4. Bike Check
All Riese & Müller and Stromer e-bikes available on subscription through Friiway come standard with daylight running lights, as well as front and rear fenders to keep you dry.
Its also a good idea to ensure that your tires have adequate tread to grip wet roads and that your brakes are responsive.
5. Don’t take the weather report at face value
The weather app may say 100% chance of rain tomorrow, but oftentimes that could mean a 100% chance in the middle of the night. Be prepared, but don’t let the forecast get in the way of your ride.
All in all, rain rides & wet surfaces are a part of the e-bike experience. At Friiway, your safety is our priority. Follow these tips, enjoy your rides, and remember, we’re here to support you every pedal of the way!
